Solskjaer, who was appointed interim manager in December, oversaw three wins and one draw in January.Sir Alex Ferguson was the last United chief to win the award, back in October 2012.David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho were never winners of the monthly gong.Solskjaer has won nine of his 10 games since replacing Mourinho. He said: “The more you know the culture of the club, the culture of the players and the way that we have been successful, that has helped me.“Ive got some fantastic coaches, I have to say, Kieran [McKenna], Michael [Carrick], theyre brilliant. Emilio Alvarezs working with the best goalkeeper in the world and to bring Micky [Phelan] in with me is very reassuring because hes so calm and experienced.“You cannot be a good leader or a manager without good players, you cant get results without the players, so ultimately its how they respond to what we tell them and theyve been fantastic, so all credit to them.”
