January was expected to be a month of squad-trimming for Silva, and some youngsters have also been allowed to leave the club on loan, as well as Niasse; the most high-profile are Mason Holgate and Kieran Dowell, who both dropped into the Championship with West Brom and Sheffield United respectively.Despite Silva needing to get players off Everton’s books, there have been rumours of potential incomings over the past few weeks.Reports have claimed of interest in Michy Batshuayi, the Chelsea forward, Napoli midfielder Amadou Diawara, and even Real Madrid and Manchester United target Eder Militao, the defender who currently represents Porto.But it is unlikely there will be new faces through the door with just three days to go until the window slams shut.“It looks really difficult for something to happen in the market now for us,” Silva said in Monday’s press conference.
