A Paraguay international, Almiron is expected to make the step up to European football before too long, and Newcastle have emerged as holding an interest in the 24-year-old.This is according to The Sun, who say Rafa Benitez, the Newcastle manager, believes Almiron is the player to revive the Magpies’ season.A 15million fee has been mooted, and Benitez believes Almiron will be good value for money – while he’s also still young enough to hold resale value. However, the St James’ Park club face competition in the race to sign Almiron from their Premier League rivals West Ham and Everton, who are both credited with an interest in the former Lanus star.Arsenal are also reported to have kept tabs on Almiron, with reports last month claiming the north Londoners have already wrapped up a deal for the midfielder.Almiron, who’s won 12 caps for Paraguay, started his career with Cerro Porteno in his homeland before moving to Lanus in 2015. After just one year he was signed by Atlanta United, who are hoping to reach this season’s MLS Cup final.Watch some of Almiron’s best bits below…

The match will be played at the Wanda Metropolitano on June 1
